Martha Stewart is coming to Australia: Lifestyle icon announces surprise 'one off' visit in May

Martha Stewart is headed down under.

The American lifestyle icon is headed to Sydney in May to take part in an exclusive event as part of Vivid Sydney.

The 83-year-old founder of lifestyle company Martha Stewart Living will appear in a one off, 'In Conversation' event where she will reflect on her extraordinary career.

The lifestyle entrepreneur is the latest in Vivid Sydney's Global Storyteller series and will speak at the festival about the evolution of her personal brand and the changing face of food, design and home life.

The Emmy award winner will also share candid insights into her most memorable moments in popular culture - and what it really takes to stay relevant for over four decades.

The renowned businesswoman gave a statement ahead of her visit, saying: 'I have made some wonderful memories travelling to Australia over the years, so I am thrilled to return for Vivid Sydney.'

'The conversation will be fun and honest, covering many aspects of my life and career.

'I'm always looking for inspiration when I travel so I'm excited to see what Sydney has to offer.'

In Conversation with Martha Stewart will take place at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney on Wednesday, 28 May.

Tickets to In Conversation with Martha Stewart are on sale Friday, April 4 at 9am AEDT at vividsydney.com.

Martha Stewart is a businesswoman, best-selling cookbook author and TV personality who has inspired millions around the world with her homemaking and culinary ideas. 

Her first book, Entertaining, published in 1982, transformed Martha into a household name and in subsequent decades she has become a trusted and informative source on topics including cooking, entertaining, gardening, home renovating, weddings, pets and crafting.

Martha has released 101 cookbooks, founded her own magazine and starred in numerous TV shows including The Martha Living Show and The Martha Show.

She also collaborated with longtime friend Snoop Dogg on VH1 series Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party.

The cooking, gardening and home entertaining guru has managed to continuously reinvent her business enterprise over multiple decades and was the first self-made female billionaire.

Martha remains a fixture in the pop culture zeitgeist. In 2023 she became the oldest model to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and last year she was the subject of Netflix's watercooler documentary Martha.

Vivid Sydney Festival Director Gill Minervini said: 'We could not think of a better figure that encapsulates this year's theme of Dream more than Martha Stewart.'

NSW Minister for Jobs and Tourism The Hon. Steve Kamper said: 'Martha Stewart is a powerhouse of innovation and entrepreneurship, and her inclusion in Vivid Sydney 2025 reaffirms the festival's ability to bring the world's boldest characters to our Harbour City.'

Martha Stewart is the latest in Vivid Sydney's Global Storyteller series. 

Previous speakers have included actress Jennifer Coolidge and White Lotus creator Mike White, comedic visionary Amy Poehler, local superstar Troye Sivan, and Hollywood trailblazers Baz Luhrmann and Spike Lee.

Vivid Sydney will be held from Friday, May 23 to Saturday, June 14.
