Kim Kardashian’s Own Drug Incident Provoked Prison Reform Involvement
Kim Kardashian has been working hard to help bring about prison reform. She has worked on drug-related offenses and wrongly convicted criminals. She even recently worked with the Menendez Brothers. While many people feel this is all because of her dad, a powerful attorney, Kim said there is one other thing that inspired her passion for prison reform.
Here is what Kim said happened to her as a teen that made her want to help people in prison for things that might not deserve their current sentences.
Kim Kardashian Talks To Inmates About Her Past
Kim Kardashian admits that her late father, Robert Kardashian, influenced her desire for prison reform. However, she said that wasn’t the only thing that caused her to want to take a stand and help out in this area. She also has memories of something that happened when she was a teenager that speaks to her now.
This happened on Thursday’s The Kardashians episode when she visited Sacramento, California. She traveled there with Scott Disick, Kendall Jenner, and Olivia Pierson. Their trip was to see a group of inmates as they fought wildfires to help expunge their criminal records. Kim’s friend, Scott Budnick, set up this program.
It sounds very similar to Fire Country. Kim visited with several young incarcerated men under 26 and worked in conservation efforts. Kim then began to open up to the group and said some things that might have been too much information at the time. However, it was essential to show her reasoning for wanting to help them.
Kim was speaking to a young woman and revealed something that happened to her as a teenager that made her want to help others in the future.

In the episode, Kim Kardashian opens up to this young woman whom she sees as being familiar to herself. However, as Kim said, she had advantages that most people don’t have in the real world. That is why she wants to help others.

“One time, my friend had me go pick up ecstasy at this apartment and like, what if something happened?” Kim said. “I thought to myself, seriously, if some s— went down, I would’ve been able to call my dad and he would’ve helped me. And these people didn’t have that. I really thought to myself, ‘This is just so crazy, these people need help'” (via PEOPLE).
Kim said that the more she spoke to people in prisons, the more she wanted to get involved. She had heard so many stories and felt they were wrong. She wants to help those who have no one to help them in their court cases. Kendall Jenner thought it was funny to hear this. She compared Kim to “Elle Woods” for revealing her past crimes in front of authorities.
