Minnesota State Patrol Reminds People To Be Safe This St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Minn. (KVRR) — The Minnesota State Patrol is reminding people to be safe this weekend and are preparing for the holiday.
As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, various festivities will be occurring throughout the state.
While the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Fargo has been moved, businesses are hosting many events indoors.
While festivities are going on, the Minnesota State Patrol wants to remind people to be safe.
Last year almost 500 DWI arrests were made over the St Patrick’s Day weekend.
“When we have these different enforcement campaigns really our goal is not about the number of tickets we write or arrests we make. It’s about trying to prevent that very thing as far as the dangerous behaviors that we see out there when it comes to the destructive decisions that people make or that they fail to make to plan ahead. It’s just what we want to do to keep people informed, to help keep everybody safe,” said Sgt. Jesse Grabow, Minnesota State Patrol.
At least 300 other departments in the state will be out this weekend on the lookout for impaired drivers.
