Police update after person dies in Hamstead railway station tragedy

Police have issued an update after a person died at a Midlands railway station.
Trains were halted between Walsall and Birminmgham following the tragedy near Hamstead railway station on Tuesday, March 11.
Medics were called to the scene just before 7am but sadly, nothing could be done to help the person and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police have now confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Hamsted railway station yesterday (11 March) at 6.55am to reports of a casualty.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to an incident at Hamstead railway station on Rocky Lane at 7.41am.
"We sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the scene.
"A patient was found, but sadly, it quickly became apparent that they could not be saved, and they were confirmed dead at the scene."
