Student surprised with handwritten letter from favorite author

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) -A young Batesville student got a happy surprise recently from his favorite author.

Julian Montafur Giron is a student at Eagle Mountain Magnet School. Julian loves the Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey.

After telling his teacher how much he loved the books, Shana Headley reached out to Pilkey.

After a few weeks, she heard back from the author’s agent who said Pilkey was so moved by Julian’s devotion he handwrote a letter.

The agent sent a picture of the handwritten note to Headley, who she surprised him with the letter in front of the whole class.

“It made me feel happy and laugh. And my dreams, they can come true,” Julian said. “I love him too much. He’s my favorite character. I can make a drawing of him all the time, pictures of him.”

Headley said Julian loves to draw Dog Man and loves to write comics of his hero.

Julian said he’ll remember the moment forever.
