His older brother was a “troublemaker, a real crime novel” so his mother had to “lay down the lay on me” (Week 1)
Hart’s mother, Nancy Hart, filed to legally emancipate his older brother, Robert Hart, from their family when they were younger after he tried to rob an elderly woman’s purse, according to his 2019 Netflix documentary, Don’t F**K This Up. He was also involved in drugs and gangs, which Kevin steered clear of. “My mom gave my brother a fair amount of freedom. Any mistakes you could make as a teenager, he made,” Kevin said in the documentary. “And then there was two. It was just me and my mum. The way that my mum saw it, she was too lenient on my brother. She figured if she could keep me off the streets, I wouldn’t turn out like him. We were not as close when we were younger.” He continued, “However, as time went by, I became closer to my older brother. So he’s now my sole brother and best buddy.”
“And these days, I’m a bestseller, making over $4 billion at the box office — that’s a lot of paper.” (Week 1)
Netflix reported in 2021 that Hart’s movies have grossed a combined $4 billion at the global box office.
