Marvel Studios has unveiled a new poster for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The nations of Wakanda and Talocan, the Aztec-inspired underwater world ruled by Namor, go to war in the new poster for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The sequel to 2018's Black Panther will be set in the wake of King T’Challa’s death, focusing on the leaders of Wakanda dealing with Namor's attack on Wakanda.

Marvel also debuted a new trailer for Wakanda Forever, which featured a glimpse at the high-tech battle between the forces of Talocan and Wakanda and fresh looks at Dominique Thorne's Ironheart and the new Black Panther. There has been heavy speculation among the Marvel fanbase concerning the identity of the new Black Panther, with several pieces of merchandise for the film hinting that Shuri will be the one to take on the mantle. However, this remains unconfirmed by Marvel at this time.

Wakanda Forever Will Be A Long Movie

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's runtime has surfaced on multiple theater websites like Canada's Cineplex and Regal Movies and, if correct, the upcoming film will be the second-longest MCU movie ever released. As of this writing, Wakanda Forever boasts a 2-hour, 41-minute runtime, putting it behind only 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which is just over three hours. Wakanda Forever's long runtime comes after Marvel released its shortest movie since 2018, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Wakanda Forever will be the first MCU project featuring Black Panther that does not also feature Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, who passed in 2020 after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. Following his death, some fans wondered what this meant for the Black Panther's MCU future. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige later confirmed that while T'Challa would be retired, Black Panther would live on with a new character taking up the mantle.

The Marvel boss recently explained his decision to not recast T'Challa, stating, "It just felt like it was much too soon to recast. Stan Lee always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window. And we had talked about how, as extraordinary and fantastical as our characters and stories are, there’s a relatable and human element to everything we do. The world is still processing the loss of Chad. And [director and co-writer] Ryan [Coogler] poured that into the story."

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Florence Kasumba, Michaela Coel, Martin Freeman and Angela Bassett. Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming MCU sequel, which opens in theaters on Nov. 11.
