Got kids? must have for all parents these holidays

NSW Trustee & Guardian

These school holidays, the state's number one Will-maker, NSW Trustee & Guardian, is reminding parents to protect the one thing they love most by making a Will – their children.

"A Will is an important legal document for anyone, but particularly if you have kids," said NSW Trustee & Guardian Estate Planning Senior Solicitor, Natalie Darcy.

"Whatever stage of parenthood you're at; whether you're changing nappies, drowning in Lego, or preparing for graduation, we encourage all parents to have a Will in place."

A Will allows parents to appoint a guardian for their children, so they are protected and provided for, no matter what life throws their way.

"Choosing a guardian for your children is an extremely important decision," said Ms Darcy.

"If you don't have a Will and something happens to you, there is a greater chance of disputes between people in your life and the question of who will raise your children may be left to the court to decide."

In addition to appointing a guardian, a Will allows parents to set out any sentimental gifts they would like their children to inherit, set up a trust, and determine the age at which their children can manage their inheritance themselves.

"While the kids are home and full of energy these school holidays, it's a good time to get your affairs in order, said Ms Darcy.

NSW Trustee & Guardian recognises that finding the time to make a Will is often a barrier for parents completing this important document. To help with the life juggle, the NSW government agency provides video conference appointments to make it easier.

"We understand the challenges of running a family. Video conference appointments mean you can complete this critical document from the comfort of your own home, so you can maximise your time with your family these school holidays."

The number one Will-maker in NSW, NSW Trustee & Guardian has professional, accredited Will-makers located across the state.
