  • Lady Zamar is working on a children's book.
  • The book is titled Amara goes to the Olympics.
  • It is expected to be released next month.

Award-winning musician Lady Zamar is working on a new book, which she says will be on the shelves in August.

Lady Zamar, whose real name is Yamikani Janet Banda, shared the news of her book in an interview with media personality and entrepreneur DJ Sbu on his YouTube channel, The Hustlers Corner SA.

"I'm releasing a book," she said in the interview. "It took me about a week to finish the book."

Lady Zamar said the children's book, titled Amara goes to the Olympics, is about a "weak little child" who overcomes several obstacles and participates in her school's Olympics. "It’s a cute little book," she added.

According to the Love is Blind hitmaker, writing a book has been "a lifelong dream" for her.

"I've always wanted to publish."

The 35-year-old said she put pen to paper during lockdown and found a publisher through an agency she signed up with.

While the book is expected to hit the shelves next month, Lady Zamar said her first attempt at the book did not go as she anticipated and that publishers turned the first manuscript away.

"I was upset they didn’t like the story," she said. "I went back and wrote the second book, and they loved it."

Lady Zamar also said that she was working on new music.

"There’s a song coming now now," she said. The song is expected to be released in either spring or summer and will focus more on the "realities of life" and not "some fantasy."
