We’ll deal with Eagles, vows Cape Verde star

CAPE VERDE star, Steven Fortès, has fired a warning at the Super Eagles ahead of their 2022 World Cup qualifier against the three-time Africa champions for next month.

The Eagles beat Cape Verde in their second match of the 2022 qualifying clash in Mindelo last month before suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Central African Republic at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos last week.

Gernot Rohr’s men would make up for their defeat in Douala as they defeated the Wild Beasts by 2-0 to lead their Group C with nine points, two more than second-placed Cape Verde, whom they face in Lagos on matchday six.

Fortès, who is determined to see the Blue Sharks in Qatar next year, said to Het Nieuwsblad via Voetabl Primeur that it will be a great thing to qualify for the World Cup but said they had to deal with Nigeria to book a place at the Mundial.

“It would be incredible to go to Qatar, but that’s a World Cup for any player. Everything is possible and we believe in it. For that, we have to deal with Nigeria, a big team. But in football, the biggest names don’t always win.”
