Ruth Negga already has a Best Actress Oscar nomination under her belt, and now she’s in line for a Daytime Emmy Award.
The Irish actress was nominated as Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for her voiceover work as Mother in "Angela’s Christmas," which Netflix debuted last year.
The show was based on a short story by Frank McCourt, famous for his Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir "Angela’s Ashes" about growing up dirt poor in Co. Limerick, where Negga was raised.
Set in Limerick in 1914, the Christmas tale "Angela's Christmas" sees Angela take the baby Jesus from a church crib to keep him warm.

Director and co-writer Damien O’Connor said: “Initially, it was a little daunting to turn the book into the film, but we had Frank’s widow Ellen McCourt on hand to guide us which was amazing if we strayed too far from Frank’s voice when writing the dialogue she would let us know.”
As well as featuring Limerick native Ruth Negga, McCourt’s brother Malachy provides the narration.

"Angela’s Christmas "garnered three Daytime Emmy nods, a triumph for the Dublin-based Brown Bag Films which produced the program which received writing and sound nominations too.
The winners will be announced in May.
