  • He will no face American Mackenzie McDonald in the last-16 on Monday

Milos Raonic returned to finish off Austrian qualifier Dennis Novak and book his place in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Saturday after play was suspended the night before.

The match was tied t one set all on Friday, with Raonic on the verge of restoring his lead, 6-5 ahead in the third when play was suspended because of fading light.

When play resumed on a stifling Court 12, the 13th seed quickly polished off the third set and cruised through the fourth to claim a 7-6 (5) 4-6 7-5 6-2 victory. It is the fourth time in five years that the Canadian has reached the fourth round at the Championships.

Raonic, who was runner-up to Andy Murray in 2016, will face American Mackenzie McDonald in the last-16 on Monday.


Elsewhere, Rafael Nadal secured safe passage into the second week for just the third time in seven years after a routine win over Alex De Minaur.

The Spaniard has struggled coming from clay onto the grass in the autumn of his career, but he is looking good here after a 6-1 6-2 6-4 win over the Australian and will meet either Fabio Fognini or Jiri Vesely in the fourth round on Monday.
