James Comey might be facing new public scrutiny over his tenure as FBI director, but that hasn’t stopped him from selling a staggering 600,000 copies of his new memoir, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, And Leadership.”

The six-figure number comes just in the first week of the book’s release, causing Comey’s publisher, Flatiron Books, to order more reprints on top of the million copies circulating in libraries and booksellers.

WATCH COMEY ON “MORNING JOE”:

For comparison, Hillary Clinton sold 300,000 copies of her latest book on the 2016 campaign, “What Happened,” on week one, while Michael Wolff’s controversial “Fire and Fury” sold 200,000 hardcover copies in its first week.

Both those books were seen as blockbuster releases in the publishing world, yet clearly came nowhere close to Comey’s recounting of his life at the helm of the FBI.

Despite its popularity, the book has come with its share of criticisms. Some passages, such as those where Comey discusses President Donald Trump’s hand size or complexion, are seen as cheap shots and contradicts the image Comey has tried to cultivate as a preeminent statesman.

As a means to prevent the former director’s critics from sabotaging the book’s release, the online retailer Amazon limited reviews on its site to only those who first purchased the book.

Amazon defended the move in a statement saying “We never reject reviews based on star rating or sentiment. When numerous reviews post in a short amount of time that are unrelated to the product, we suppress all non-Amazon Verified Purchase (AVP) reviews.”
